Description
Taper Point PDS II Absorbable Suture is a synthetic monofilament suture composed of polydioxanone designed for prolonged wound support and controlled absorption. The suture provides excellent tensile strength retention, maintaining approximately 80% of its strength at two weeks, 70% at four weeks, and 60% at six weeks post-implantation.
The suture undergoes complete mass absorption between 183 to 238 days, minimizing the risk of long-term foreign body reaction. Its monofilament structure allows smooth passage through tissue, reducing trauma and promoting faster healing with low tissue reactivity. The violet color enhances visibility during surgical placement and postoperative assessment.
Equipped with a 1.2 circle RB-2 taper point needle, the suture enables precise and controlled penetration through delicate tissues without cutting. The 13 mm needle length and double-armed configuration facilitate ease of handling and allow for secure closure in confined surgical sites.
