Description

Ethibond Excel Suture, TF, Size 4/0, Green, 24" is a sterile, nonabsorbable surgical suture made from braided polyester fibers. The suture is coated with a highly adherent polybutilate compound that enhances its handling characteristics. This coating acts as a lubricant, reducing friction during passage through tissue and improving knot security. 

The suture incorporates a taper point needle designed to penetrate soft tissue with minimal trauma. The taper point facilitates smooth passage through tissue by separating fibers rather than cutting them, making it suitable for delicate tissue approximation. The combination of a durable braided polyester suture and a precision needle ensures reliable performance in various surgical procedures.

Braiding of the suture offers optimal flexibility and pliability, allowing for easy manipulation and secure knot tying. The coating significantly improves the physical properties by enhancing the suture’s smoothness and reducing tissue drag, which contrasts with uncoated braided fibers that tend to have higher friction.

A nonabsorbable, braided, sterile, surgical suture composed of Poly (ethylene, terephthalate). It is prepared from fibers of high molecular weight, long-chain, linear polyesters having recurrent aromatic rings as an integral component. It is uniformly coated with polybutilate or poly {oxy-1, 4 butanediyloxy (1, 6-dioxo-1, 6 hexanediyl)}. The highly adherent coating is a relatively nonreactive nonabsorbable compound which acts as a lubricant to mechanically improve the physical p roperties of the uncoated suture by improving handling qualities as contrasted to the braided, uncoated fiber. The suture is braided for optimal handling properties, and dyed green for enhanced visibility in the surgical field.
